Lochinvar Hugo Out To Maintain Winning Streak

By Jeff Collerson

NSW’s most consistent greyhound Lochinvar Hugo will be aiming for his 13th straight win when he lines up at Richmond on tonight.

Lochinvar Hugo will jump from box four in the 5th grade Sires on Ice Stakes (race four, 618m) with only bad luck looking at halting his incredible winning streak.

The Robert Smith-trained greyhound stopped the clock at 35.18 for a 618m race at Richmond last week, which was just 0.18 outside the long-standing track record held by Space Star.

Lochinvar Hugo has now won four races in times only two tenths of a second outside track records,” Smith said.

The fact Lochinvar Hugo got so close to Space Star’s record is a huge feat considering that greyhound’s trainer Robert Britton rates Space Star a faster greyhound than his current champion Fanta Bale.
