Eberand Going For Glory At Geelong

By Jeff Collerson

Sydney financial advisor Michael Eberand, who trains for a hobby, has Barking Bad and Ebby Ripper, greyhounds he bred, in major group races in Victoria tonight and tomorrow night.

Barking Bad has box eight in the 460m Geelong Cup on Friday night and Ebby Ripper with the same draw in 725m Top Gun over 525m at The Meadows 24 hours later.

Barking Bad also wore the pink rug when he won his heat in 26.03, well outside the fastest time of the night, 25.43.

"Both my greyhounds are boxed perfectly,'' Eberand said.

"Barking Bad was the slowest heat winner but I expect him to improve as he was having his first run for three weeks when he won last Friday.

"Bewildering and Thirty Talks will be hard to beat but my dog loves box eight and is in with a real chance.

"Ebby Ripper faces a tough task as she is up against champion stayers Fanta Bale and Burn One Down, but she is well positioned and while she will need luck to win it is an honour to have her selected to be among the eight invitees.''

Good Odds Angel, who captured the hearts and boosted the finances of Wentworth Park fans with her faultless box manners and early speed, has been retired.

The Frank Hurst-trained Good Odds Angel, whose 25 wins included 14 at Wentworth Park, is to be mated with Collision.

Meanwhile Good Odds Regina, who was also trained by Hurst but is no relation to Angel, has just had her first litter educated.

"They are by Magic Sprite and broke in extremely well, I am really excited about these pups,'' Hurst said.

"And Good Odds Regina is to have a second litter as she is in pup to Fabregas.''

Good Odds Regina was not quite as smart at Good Odds Angel but was a front-running Wentworth Park winner who won 13 races.
