Muscat's Lucky Wenty Charlm

By Jeff Collerson

Charlm Fella and Charlm Knight - two of the most promising greyhounds to race on the TAB circuit in recent months - make their keenly anticipated Wentworth Park debuts tonight.

Trained by Richard Muscat, both greyhounds look to be strong winning chances, with Charlm Fella jumping from box two in the 5th grade thedogs.com.au Stakes (race nine, 520m) and Charlm Knight drawing box four in the 5th grade gapnsw.com.au Stakes (race 10, 520m).

“Although they have not raced at Wenty both my dogs know their way around the track,” Muscat said.

“Each has had a couple of box-to-box slips and they went reasonably well. Charlm Knight is probably a fraction quicker than his brother.”

While Charlm Knight faces what looks to be moderate opposition, Charlm Fella could meet stern opposition from Zudactyl Monelli and Chimbu Park.

Zudactyl Monelli had never seen Wentworth Park when he was sent out as a $1.60 favourite at the track last Wednesday night and after a slow start he finished strongly into third place.

While the experience on the track should improve him, Zudactyl Monelli's move from box one last week to box seven on Wednesday looks to be a disadvantage.

Chimbu Park has been unplaced in two Wentworth Park races, but has box one and at her most recent start wearing the red rug she led throughout over 515m at Gosford early last month.

“We are happy with box one but are not sure what our greyhound will do at the first turn,” John Brown, whose wife Wendy trains Chimbu Park, said.

“She has railed well when winning at Gosford and The Gardens but has wanted to shift off the track in her races at Wentworth Park. Chimbu Park is going well and if she holds her position on the first corner she should be hard to toss.”

Tonight's safest bet should be Beside The Truth, who is ideally positioned in box one in the 4/5th grade @wpgrey on Twitter Stakes (race six, 520m).

Beside The Truth overcame a slow start to win at Wentworth Park last Wednesday, taking his impressive record to eight wins from 14 starts.

He had box four last week but is placed better this time, especially given Srixon, who has box two, is a wide runner.

Box one could also deliver the best value bet on tonight's card with Infrared Ethics set to lead all the way in the 5th grade Ladbrokes Multimaker Stakes (race one, 520m).

Infrared Ethics has a good turn of foot when he hits the ground and was a good second to Agent Kade, a smart Wentworth Park greyhound, when he exited box one at Nowra on August 21.
