Gatt Poised To Claim Final

By thedogs.com.au

Chewy Gums and Charlie Gatt are poised to take out the Goulburn Workers Club final at Goulburn this afternoon.

Chewy Gums was the fastest qualifier for today's decider – which is the highlight of a good quality card of racing at Goulburn - taking out his heat in very impressive fashion, leading all the way to win in a Time of 20.35.

While she set the Time standard in the heats, Chewy Gums also has the benefit of beginning from box one tomorrow and looks a good bet to record her third career win from 13 starts.

Standing in the way of Chewy Gums will be the Donna Campbell-trained Time No Money.

Time No Money won her heat in 20.40, overcoming a tardy start to power over her rivals.

She will jump from box two, and if she gets a better beginning in the final she will be competitive right throughout the race, which is ninth event on the program.

While the Goulburn Workers Club final is the main attraction at Goulburn, there are also four heats of the Palmerbet Goulburn to Bulli series.

Some top quality greyhounds are taking part in the heats, including two greyhounds from Campbell’s Macarthur kennels – Tiempo Dinero and Tobiano.

Tiempo Dinero jumps in the third heat (race seven) from box six, in which he is attempting to recapture the form that saw him win the Group 3 Nowra Summer Puppy Classic.

Since that feature race win, Tiempo Dinero – which means ‘Time Money’ in Spanish - has only managed two wins from 10 starts, but looks well placed in Tuesday’s heat from which he will jump from box six.

Campbell’s other runner in the heats – Tobiano – competes in the fourth heat (race eight). While he has not reached the lofty heights of his kennelmate, he does have two wins at Goulburn and could run well.

The top two from each heat qualify for the series final, which will be run at Bulli on 2 September.

Another greyhound to watch at Goulburn today is the lightly raced Despicable Daz.

Trained by Mitchell Pryce, Despicable Daz has been very impressive in his three career starts so far, winning two and finishing second in the other.

He will face his toughest test so far, in race three where he will have to overcome box five if he is to continue the good start to his racing career.

Racing gets underway at Goulburn at 12.10pm, with 11 races on the card.
