Webster Confident Of Successful Return

By Jeff Collerson

Trainer Sharron Webster says Golden Easter Egg runner-up Lagoon Jazzy is at the top of her game for her assignment at Wednesday night's Wentworth Park meeting.

Lagoon Jazzy (pictured, pink rug) was a fading fifth in Prevail's heat of the National Sprint Championship at her most recent start, but drops sharply in class in tonight’s ninth event - the 4th grade wentworthpark.com.au Stakes (520m) - in which she will jump from box seven.

Considering she made the pace when second to Striker Light in Sydney's biggest race, the Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg on April 15, Lagoon Jazzy is extremely well placed tonight.

Lagoon Jazzy is looking really well and I like her boxed wide in seven in Wednesday night's race,” Webster said.

“But I do have a healthy respect for Elzy Jay, who has box one and could be Lagoon Jazzy's toughest rival.”

Graeme Sheather, whose partner Angela Della Bosca trains Elzy Lay, is thrilled to see their dog in box one.

“Elzy Lay has ability but is desperate for the rails, he won't go around a rival and just sits on the fence wanting to come along the inside,” Sheather said.

“When he finished fourth at Wenty last week we thought he was going to win coming to the home bend but he just bided his time waiting for a run which never came.”

Trainer Simon Rhodes, meanwhile, rates Tilikum and Dyna Nerf the best chances of his five starters at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

Tilikum has box three in the 5th grade Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes (race two, 520m) while Dyna Nerf has drawn box four in the 5th grade Ladbrokes Cash Out Stakes (race four, 520m).

“I think Tilikum is getting back to the form which saw him break 30 seconds at Wentworth Park in March,” Rhodes said.

“When he won at Dapto last Thursday night his overall time was just outside the fastest of the meeting but his run home time at the end of the 520m was the best of the night.

Dyna Nerf is up against another of my greyhounds, Bonna Bale, who has early speed but has never seen Wentworth Park. That being the case Dyna Nerf, who has been placed in seven of his 11 Wenty runs, is probably a better prospect.”

Wednesday's safest bet should be brilliant front runner Good Odds Angel, who is chasing her 15th Wentworth Park win in the night's free for all thedogs.com.au (race eight, 520m).

Good Odds Angel has been a model of consistency in recent weeks, registering four wins and four placings from her past 11 races at headquarters.

While tonight’s race is the top grade event of the meeting, the field is arguably the weakest Good Odds Angel has tackled in three months.

Good Odds Angel's trainer Frank Hurst could land a winning double as that greyhound's younger half brother Good Odds Bricky is tipped to take out race three - the Ladbrokes.com.au Stakes (720m) - which is the only long distance race on the card.
