Super Sherbini One To Watch At Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Star newcomer and track specialist Sherbini">Sherbini looks the one to beat in one of Friday night's feature races at Richmond.

The impeccably bred daughter of champion My Bro Fabio and Hidden Assets jumps from box one in the 4/5th grade electriciansupplies.com.au 1-3 Wins Final (race seven, 618m) having already shown she is a potentially formidable future talent.

A pup from the premier Mark Gatt kennel, Sherbini has won four of her five starts so far and was a flying 35.68 winner in last week’s heats.

She has won her two previous starts from box one and Gatt believes his greyhound could have a bright future in the staying ranks.

"I really like Sherbini as a future stayer." he said.  "I am working her hard, getting some miles into her legs before stepping her up to 720 metres.

"One can never be sure whether a greyhound will run a strong 720 metres but Sherbini has handled everything I've thrown at her.

"She looks like a stayer - she is built like a big, long rake.''

Sherbini won over the 618m at Richmond two starts back with another impressive 35.86 effort and has triumphed on all four visits to the western Sydney track so far in her young career.

She looks a class above this field on current form, with Dusty Gambler (box five) looking the only threat.

Dusty Gambler first showed his class with a 29.57 run in the Group 3 Nowra Spring Puppy Classic heats last year.

He was off the scene for six months but has returned in style with two wins in three starts, including a Best-of-the-Night 35.66 win in last week’s heats.

The draw should give Sherbini the edge but it could be a close affair.

In other Richmond Friday action,  the Garry Lynch-trained Jugungal Black looks a good chance to score a second career in four starts in the night’s other feature final.

Jugungal Black (box two) can win the maiden Ladbrokes Odds Boost Multi Final (race four, 535m) having clocked a solid 31.29 win in last week’s heats.

True">True Dream is another greyhound in flying form and looks ready to salute again in the 4/5th grade Tuiaki @Stud Stakes (race five, 400m).

True Dream (box one) has scored three wins and a placing in her last four starts and is usually a factor from box one, with three victories and four minor placings in nine previous races jumping from box one.

He Can Fly (box four) is an improving newcomer for gun NSW Central West trainer Ray Smith and looks the best bet in the first of four heats of the 5th grade Angosturra LLB 1-2 Wins Series (535m, race six).

The son of Cosmic Rumble and Avondale Queen scored his maiden win with a smart 29.82 triumph over the 520m at Bathurst last month and can win this if at his best.

King Panda (box eight) is a consistent performer for local trainer Frank Hurst and can complete the quaddie with victory in the 5th grade Sires On Ice (race eight, 618m).

The Frank Hurst-trained greyhound is having just his second look at this trip but has scored one win and five minor placings in his last six starts, mostly in elite company at Wentworth Park.

Four of his seven career wins have come at Richmond over the 535m and if at his best he can take care of these from the wide draw.
