Rockstar Stratus Looking On Song For Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Star newcomer Rockstar Stratus and unbeaten pup Pawfessional look among the top winning chances at Bulli on Saturday night.

Rockstar Stratus jumps from box seven in the 5th grade Ladbrokes Cash In 1-2 Wins Stakes (race eight, 472m) aiming for a third victory in her first four starts.

The impeccably bred daughter of champion My Bro Fabio and Midnight Quest cruised home by eight-and-a-quarter lengths over this trip last week in a sizzling 26.08.

The Shaun Evans-trained greyhound also scored another Best-of-the-Night win over this trip on June 24, cruising home by nine lengths in  26.21.

Meanwhile, unbeaten Pawfessional goes for a third victory from his first three starts when he jumps from box three in the 5th grade Bulli Dogs On Facebook Stakes (race 10, 400m).

The son of multiple Group winner Paw Licking and Taurina Belle has scored two wins over the 365m, including a 20.96 win last Monday.

This is his first competitive look at Bulli but owner-trainer Andrew Rowe is expecting his impressive greyhound to run another good race.

“I’m really excited about him,” Rowe said.  “I think he’s the real deal.

“He has trialled at Bulli and he’ll have no problems handling the 400 metres.

“This is a tough race. It’ll be a good guide as to how he’s progressing (but) he is perfectly boxed and racing well.”

Meanwhile, Just Like Stride also looks a decent value chance for Rowe in the night’s second race, the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes (race two, 400m).

The son of Hoover Boy and Knock Knock (box eight) faces a tough field but has placed in his last two starts over the 440m at Canberra and is a decent wide runner, with two wins and three minor placings from six starts wearing the pink rug.

“He’s been a tremendous greyhound for me,” Rowe said. “Everywhere I take him he puts in a good race.

“He was unlucky at Canberra on his last start as he just got run down on the line, but he’s been racing really well. He likes it out wide and even though this is another tough race, I’d say he has a chance.”

In other Bulli Saturday action, this year’s Group 2 Gosford Gold Cup winner Barking Bad (box three, pictured) can return to winning ways in the 3/4th grade Ladbrokes Multi Maker Stakes (race five, 472m).

The impressive son of Bella Infrared and Ebby Miss is winless in 10 starts but loves Bulli and showed improving form placing at Maitland last start.

Zipping Spring is airborne at the moment and looks the top chance in the 5th grade Bulli Tuesday-Thursday Trials Stakes (race seven, 472m).

The JODIE Lord-trained greyhound has won his last two starts – both at Canberra – and has won nine of his 25 starts overall.
