Magic Spring Passes Away

By Jeff Collerson

National Derby winner Magic Spring has sadly passed away, Noelene Holloway has confirmed.

Holloway, who bred, owned and trained Magic Spring, said Magic Spring had been stricken with a twisted bowel following his race at Wentworth Park last week.

"He was at the veterinary surgeon's all day Thursday but he was unable to be saved," Holloway said.

Magic Spring won a remarkable 21 wins and filled 17 placings from 68 Wentworth Park starts and compiled an overall record of 25 wins and 20 placings from 78 races.

His career highlight was undoubtedly when he took out the 2016 Group 1 National Derby.

Holloway bred Magic Spring from her greyhound Fascinate Marina who whelped the litter comprising the champion sprinter to Spring Gun, in September 2013.
