Poster Boy Catching The Eye At Grafton

By Stuart Turner

Lawrence Meteyard rates Poster Boy as the best of his six chances as the Grafton carnival continues at the Northern Rivers track tonight.

The meeting at Grafton tonight includes heats of the Village Green Hotel Sprinters series, the Ladbrokes Distance series and The Chase Newspaper series.

Meteyard, who has scored some notable wins at Northern Rivers tracks since relocating from Queensland about four years ago, rugs up Poster Boy in heat one of the 5th grade The Chase Newspaper Series (race 10, 480m).

Poster Boy won over the 484m at Casino in April and showed improved form when finishing fourth in a tough 4th grade event over the 407m at Grafton last start.

“I fancy Poster Boy to do well,” Meteyard said.

“He’s still a young greyhound but he has ability. That win at Casino had to be seen to be believed (and) he’s capable of running some good races."

Meteyard also has Mitchie Madam and Gunner Succeed competing in heats of the Village Green Hotel Sprinters Stakes over the 407m with both looking decent chances.

Mitchie Madam (heat three, race three) faces a tough field but is unbeaten in two previous starts from box six and is in great form, having scored back-to-back wins at Grafton and Casino recently.

Gunner Succeed (heat five, race five) has won 15 starts and has scored two wins in his last four races, but faces a tough field including in-form NSW Central West greyhound Little Nangar in box three.

Mitchie Madam is going well but in a tough heat. Go Lassie Go in box eight ran 22.44 over the 395m at Albion Park last start and looks hard to beat,” Meteyard said.

Gunner Succeed isn’t a great box greyhound but this draw should suit. He has incredible toe when he hits the ground and make his own race from this draw. He’s been very consistent for me as well.

“These are tough heats (though) so I’m reserved about their chances.”

Meteyard, whose strong run of recent success includes winning this year’s Casino Beef Week Cup with Cosmic Wants Too, also rugs up Milton Road (race seven), Murselow (race nine) and Itchy Mccaw (race 11).

Milton Road won well over the 480m last start but faces Visigoth (box one), a middle distance talent who won well over this trip last start.

The Charmaine Roberts-trained Simon Keeping (box one) has won over the 715m at Sandown Park and looks the top pick in race nine, while Shining Supreme (box five) is going for four straight wins and looks the best bet in race nine.

In other Grafton action, star local newcomer Grand Prix Dryva (box eight), a winner of five of his last six starts, looks a strong winning chance in the fourth heat of the Village Green Hotel Sprinters (407m, race four).

The Andrew Monaghan-trained greyhound has clocked a flying 22.80 over this trip and has won two of his five starts from box eight.
