Rockstar Stratus Aiming To Shine At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Exciting newcomer Rockstar Stratus heads the mouth-watering list of new talent in action at Saturday night’s terrific Bulli meeting.

The daughter of champion My Bro Fabio and Midnight Quest jumps from box from box two in the Ladbrokes Ride Guide Stakes (race eight, 472m) after a brilliant debut win last week.

Rockstar Stratus scored a terrific Best-of-the-Night victory, jumping well from box two and cruising home  by nine-and-three-quarter lengths in a dazzling 26.21.

She had also run 26.14 in a performance trial over this trip the previous week and looks capable of defeating a field here that contains kennelmate Rockstar Toovey (box five) and some other eye-catching newcomers.

“The time in a competitive race last week was a bit of a surprise but she keeps improving,” Evans said.

“She did everything right last week and she’s obviously showing that great potential to look for.

“We’re not getting ahead of ourselves but obviously we’re delighted with how she’s shaping up.”

Rockstar Stratus looks the one to beat but the competitive field also includes the Neil Staines-trained East of Blue (box three), who had a Best-of-the-Night win on debut over the 440m at Canberra on June 11.

Pride Of Charlie (box four) scored a sizzling 19.79 victory over the 350m at Goulburn on his second start on June 20 and also looks a threat.

Evans also has Rockstar Jane, a litter sister to Rockstar Stratus, jumping from box two in the Mixed grade GBOTA Wollongong Branch Stakes (race six, 472m).

Rockstar Jane was an unlucky third over the 400m at Bulli last week but looks capable of improving here.

“The greyhound next to her cleaned her up at the start last week,” Evans said. “In the circumstances it was a good run.

“We have five of the litter and they are all doing well. Another brother,  Rockstar Kobe, placed over the 520m at Dapto on Thursday night.

Rockstar Stratus has always been the best but Rockstar Jane has good speed and she’ll stand on her own right.”

In other Bulli Saturday action, Super Senor (box eight) saluted brilliantly at the track last week and can win a high-quality 3/4th grade Southern Engine Reconditioning Stakes (race four) over the 472m.

The Julie Fletcher-trained greyhound is shooting for a third successive win after victories at Maitland and here last week on his last two starts.

Seven of his 11 career victories  have come at Bulli and he was a faultless winner last week, saluting over this trip 26.10

Le Perro (box eight) has built the sound record of four wins and six minor placings from 11 starts and can salute in the 5th grade Bulli Tuesday-Thursday trials Stakes (race five, 472m).

The Sam Sultana-trained greyhound placed here last week behind Super Senor and has run  a zippy 26.10 over this trip.

Star newcomer Lagoon Rhett has already run some flying times at Bulli and Maitland and looks the top pick in the 5th grade Bulli Racing Saturday Night Stakes (race 10, 472m).

The latest exciting talent for Sharron Webster, Lagoon Rhett has won three of his five starts so far and looks the best of these.
