On 29 November 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Ms Leanne Barnes under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:
That you, Leanne Barnes, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Chew Star’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race seven at Potts Park on 3 September 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.
The prohibited substance was cobalt.
During an inquiry on 27 June 2017, Ms Barnes was found guilty of the charge. The Stewards determined to impose a period of suspension of 21 weeks.
