Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged registered trainer Mr Neil Staines under rule 86(ag) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘Les Zarr Lee’ and ‘Rudra’ at the Goulburn greyhound meeting on 4 April 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘Slamming Thunder’ and ‘Mitra’ at the Wentworth Park greyhound meeting on 8 April 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhound ‘Les Zarr Lee’ at the Goulburn greyhound meeting on 11 April 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhound in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘Slamming Thunder’ and ‘Mitra’ at the Wentworth Park greyhound meeting on 15 April 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘Slamming Thunder’, Mitra’, ‘By Golly Wally’ and ‘Varuna’ at the Dubbo greyhound meeting on 21 April 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘My Country’, ‘Tullabung Rock’, ‘Spiders Brother’ and ‘Country Commet’ at the Goulburn greyhound meeting on 2 May 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘By Golly Wally’, ‘Mitra’, ‘Vince Fawn’ and ‘Les Zarr Lee’ at the Bulli greyhound meeting on 6 May 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhound ‘Country Commet’ at the Goulburn greyhound meeting on 9 May 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
That you, Neil Staines, a registered trainer, failed to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy when you kennelled the greyhounds ‘Spiders Brother’, ‘Tullabung Rock’, ‘Les Zarr Lee’, ‘Mitra’ and ‘Varuna’ at the Wagga Wagga greyhound meeting on 27 May 2017 by failing to provide water to the greyhounds in accordance with the policy.
During an inquiry on 16 June 2017, GRNSW withdrew two charges and Mr Staines admitted to a breach of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules in relation to the remaining seven charges. The Stewards determined to impose a period of suspension of eight weeks, wholly suspended for each charge subject to conditions.
