Fastest qualifier Set To Storm has an ideal draw but the trainers of Mister Twister and Up Hill Jill are hoping brilliant starts can offset their awkward boxes in tonight's Group 1 Ladbrokes Peter Mosman Classic at Wentworth Park.
Set To Storm, who led throughout to win her semi in 29.63 at only her ninth racetrack appearance, has box eight and is currently $4.40 with Sportsbet to take out Saturday night’s feature.
Trainer Jodie Van Enkhuyzen was delighted with the outside trap as Set To Storm came from box seven in her semi-final win.
But Up Hill Jill's trainer David Geall and Jason MACKAY, who prepares Mister Twister, each believes their greyhounds are capable of jumping in front and leading throughout.
“Box six is not good for Up Hill Jill (pictured) but when she won her heat and final of the Sandown Laurels in December she exploded from the boxes,” Geall said.
“She is a reliable beginner but she can also come out under the lids and if she does that in the Peter Mosman she can win.”
Up Hill Jill is the $2.70 favourite with Sportsbet having gone through the Peter Mosman Classic series undefeated, with a 29.97 win in her heat and a 29.89 victory in her semi final.
Mister Twister, meanwhile, flew out when an all-the-way semi final winner in 29.66.
“If he does that again he'll be hard to catch,” MACKAY said.
“That isn't the first time he has done that because he came out running in his Richmond Riches heat win on May 12. I was hoping for a rails draw in this race but there is not too much pace inside Mister Twister so if he begins fast he is in with a great chance.”
Mister Twister is currently rated as a $3.80 chance by Sportsbet.
The other greyhound in betting is Lucky Chap, who is priced at $4.60 after he set the fastest time in the heats with a 29.56 run followed by a win in 29.95 last weekend.
The Ladbrokes Peter Mosman Classic is race eight on the 10-race card.
