White Sox Ethics Can Win Fresh

By Jeff Collerson

Ethics">White Sox Ethics">Ethics has not raced for six weeks but a slick trial last Saturday night indicates she is ready to win first-up at headquarters at Wentworth Park tonight.

Trained by Peter Mantach, Ethics">White Sox Ethics">Ethics has box two in the 5th grade Moreira At Stud Stakes (race two, 520m).

The greyhound is a litter sister to three greyhounds which have qualified for Saturday night's Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic semi-finals at Wentworth Park - Yankee's Ethics who won a heat in 30.00, and Infrared Ethics and Red Sox Ethics who reached the semi finals through finishing third and fourth respectively.

At her only Wentworth Park race Ethics">White Sox Ethics was sent out a $2.50 favourite from box eight on April 22 but after being badly checked when trying to cross to the rails at the first turn she finished fifth.

"She is nicely drawn in box two," Mantach said.

"Since her last Wentworth Park race she has had a 400m hit-out at Dapto, a box-to-box trial at The Meadows, and then a 520m trial at Wenty after the final event last Saturday night.

"She clocked 30.10 last Saturday so I was pleased with that time."

Mantach also has Ethics">White Sox Ethics' litter brother Dodgin' Ethics in box eight in the 5th grade wentworthpark.com.au Stakes (race eight, 520m).

"(Dodgin’ Ethics) has not raced at Wentworth Park and while I also trialled him after the last race on Saturday night he did not go all that well," Mantach said.

"Dodgin' Ethics has ability but his problem is he plays up in the starting boxes, he literally goes mad while waiting for the lure to come around.

"He won at Dapto at his most recent start on May 18 and while he had the outside draw that night and ran very fast time, he just happened to be on his best behaviour in the boxes. His chances on Wednesday depend on whether he behaves himself when he is boxed."

Dodgin' Ethics' toughest rival looms as Shining Beauty, who was desperately unlucky when placed at her first two Wentworth Park starts.

Shining Beauty, who is undefeated in two starts from box one, will again wear the red rug and trainer Percy Gordon is quietly confident. Shining Beauty won twice over 400m at Richmond late last month and Gordon said she is going as well now.

"She should be hard to beat from box one," he said.

Another box one specialist, Starburst Bassy, has drawn the rails in the 4th grade Follow Us On Facebook Stakes (race one, 520m).

The Darren Sultana-trained greyhound has won five of his seven races from the rails trap.

"He is trialling well enough and had no luck when unplaced from an unsuitable draw at Gosford last week," Sultana said.
