Falcon's Fury Aims For Milestone At Wagga

Falcon’s Fury will register his 20th career win and take his prizemoney total past $120,000 if he can take out the Ladbrokes Graeme Hull Memorial Cup (race six, 525m) at Wagga on Saturday night.

Trained by Paul Braddon at Cowra, Falcon’s Fury (pictured) won a drama filled heat last week, in which he held out a gallant Mitra to win by 1 ¾ lengths in a time of 30.48.

In that race, Falcon’s Fury jumped from box four and he has the same draw for Saturday’s feature.

If Falcon’s Fury is successful on Saturday it will continue a remarkable year for the son of Fabregas, which has resulted in wins in the Group 2 Bulli Gold Cup, the Bathurst Gold Cup and the Dubbo Gold Cup.

Falcon's Fury is one of three runners for Braddon with the in-form trainer also Ferrero Miss (box three) and Little Cindy (box eight) in Saturday's feature.

But the biggest opposition for Falcon’s Fury looks to be Mitra again, with the Neil Staines-trained greyhound well drawn in box two.

Mitra finished fourth to Falcon’s Fury in the Dubbo Gold Cup, but was much more improved last start in which he forced Falcon’s Fury to dig deep to get the heat win.

Other contenders include Nangar Range, who set the fastest time in the heats with a 30.42 win.

Based in Victoria at Greg Schofield’s kennels, Nangar Range has the coveted box one draw for Saturday’s cup and will be right in the finish if he begins well.

Other heat winners, Heza Saint (won heat in 30.59, has box seven in the final) and Slick Simzy (30.59, box five) also have to be considered as strong each-way chances.

The Graeme Hull Memorial Cup is one of the biggest races in the Riverina region of NSW with $10,000 going to the winner of the race.

First race starts at 6.16pm with the cup at 8.01pm.
