Falcon's Fury Aims For Another Cup

By thedogs.com.au

Falcon's Fury will look to continue his great run of form when the Paul Braddon-trained greyhound takes part in a heat of the the Ladbrokes Graeme Hull Memorial Cup at Wagga (525m) this evening.

Arguably the best sprinter in NSW at present, Falcon's Fury will jump from box four in the second heat of the time-honoured cup, one of the biggest races in the Riverina.

Falcon's Fury (pictured) has not raced since winning the Dubbo Gold Cup in late April, but runs well fresh and should be ready to put in a big effort on Friday night. That win in the Dubbo Gold Cup, boosted Falcon's Fury over flowing trophy cabinet, with the greyhound having also won the Bathurst Gold Cup and the Bulli Gold Cup this year.

While Falcon's Fury looks to be the bet of Friday night's meeting, the other heats look to be wide open and competitive affairs.

Aqua Divergent (box one) looks the pick in the first heat while Golden Easter Egg finalist Slamming Thunder (box eight) looks the one to beat in the third heat.

Trained by Neil Staines at Yass, Slamming Thunder has bumped into Falcon's Fury twice in the Dubbo Gold Cup series since the Golden Easter Egg, finishing second in his heat and then a disappointing eighth in the final, but looks like he will be hard to hold out on Friday night.

The fourth heat looks the most open of the night with several chances, including Ferrero Miss (box three), Slick Simzy (box seven) and Aqua Dragon (box one).

The top two placegetters in the heats of the Ladbrokes Graeme Hull Memorial Cup will qualify with next week's final, where $10,000 awaits the winner.

The heats have been transferred to Sunday after Friday's meeting at Wagga was washed out.
