Decision - Alfred Vella

On 22 July 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Mr Alfred Vella under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows: 

That you, Alfred Vella, a public trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Hazy Omen’ at Dubbo on 18 February 2016 presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race one in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.

The prohibited substance in this instance was flunixin.

Mr Vella entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.

After considering all the evidence before the inquiry, GRNSW Stewards found Mr Vella guilty of the charge and determined to impose a period of disqualification of 24 weeks.
