Decision - Pat Parrelli

By Greyhound Racing NSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Stewards opened an inquiry to investigate whether the greyhound 'Devine Rite' incorrectly competed in the place of greyhound 'Devine Kiss' in race 7 at the Non-TAB Hastings River Greyhound Racing Club (Wauchope) meeting on 26 December 2016.

Following the examination of all of the evidence before the inquiry, GRNSW Stewards determined that Devine Rite had contested the race, and not Devine Kiss.

As a result, the Stewards charged the trainer of both greyhounds - Mr Pat Parrelli - under Rule 86(o). Mr Parrelli admitted that he had erred in presenting the wrong greyhound for the race and was fined $200.

In determining the penalty for each individual, GRNSW examined the sole bookmakers ledger who fielded at the Wauchope meeting. The ledger disclosed minimal support for Divine Kiss, with $4 in total wagered on the greyhound.

GRNSW Stewards also charged the two identification officials - Mr Bill Urquhart and Mr Ben Little - who were working at the race meeting under Rule 86(o).

Both officials admitted the charge.

GRNSW Stewards determined to impose a fine of $300 for Mr Urquhart and $200 for Mr Little.

Both fines were conditionally suspended for 12 months on the basis that there are no further breaches of the Greyhound Racing Rules in the performance of their official duties.
