Ando's Mac Star Attraction At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Melbourne Cup winner Ando’s Mac is the headline act at Saturday’s Bulli meeting while kennelmates Aston Dee Bee and Zipping Beau also look strong winning chances.

Ando’s Mac (pictured) jumps from box one in the 4/5th grade GBOTA Wollongong Stakes (race eight, 400m) aiming to further improve his record of 19 wins and 10 minor placings from 38 starts.

Currently Australia’s highest prize money earner with more than $600,000 to his name, the son of El Grand Senor and Brook’s Doll has not raced competitively since finishing third in a Golden Easter Egg semi-final at Wentworth Park three weeks ago.

The Jason MACKAY-trained greyhound was sidelined for 10 weeks earlier this year by injury and has gone winless in his last four starts, but will surely have too much class for this field.

This is his first look at Bulli but he has won five of his six races jumping from box one and with a clean getaway should be head and shoulders above this opposition.

Mr Diaz (box six) is having his first run for four months but had won five of his nine starts prior to being sidelined and looks the biggest danger.

MACKAY should also be celebrating winners with eye-catching newcomer Zipping Beau in race two over the 472m and Aston Dee Bee (box four) in race six over the 472m.

Zipping Beau has been freshened up since finishing eighth over the 450m at Maitland on April 6 but showed his potential with a super 29.84 triumph over the 515m at Unibet Gardens on March 31.

Aston Dee Bee is having his second run for MACKAY since transferring from the kennel of premier Victorian trainer Jason Thompson and looks the one to beat in race six.

The son of Barcia Bale and Aston Elle scored some impressive wins in Victoria against elite company and has built the career record of 10 wins and three minor placings from 20 starts.

He should be too good for for this field, although kennelmate Reckoning (box three), another former Thompson-trained greyhound now in MACKAY’s kennel, looks a big threat.

In other Bulli action, exciting newcomer Pabs (box three) looks capable of scoring another victory in the night’s fourth race over the 472m.

The son of Cosmic Rumble and Flowering Lily, trained by gun Kemps Creek mentor Jason Magri, returned from a three-month break with a terrific nine-length victory over the 472m at Bulli last week.

Special Road looks a promising greyhound for leading mentor Mark Gat and can score victory from box seven in the night’s seventh race over the 472m.

The impeccably bred son of Barcia Bale and Addison Road is having just his second look at the 472m but won over the 400m at Bulli earlier this month in a decent 22.69 and has the talent to win this race.

File The Writ has been in great form recently and looks one of the night’s standout chances in race 10 over the 400m.

The Ruth Matic-trained greyhound finished fifth in decent company at Bulli over the 472m last week but prior to that had won four of his five starts and looks the class act of this field.
