Suffragette Headlines Ladies Bracelet Heats

By Stuart Turner

Impressive Group 2 Launching Pad winner Suffragette, Group 1 Golden Easter Egg runner-up Lagoon Jazzy and the in-form She’s Grand headline Saturday’s Group 3 Evans and Son Jewellers Ladies Bracelet (520m) heats at Wentworth Park.

Suffragette (pictured) jumps from box eight in the first of four heats having exploded onto the racing scene with a brilliant victory in the Launching Pad at Sandown Park earlier this month.

The Kerrie White-trained greyhound scored a dominant 10-length victory in the $150,000-to-the-winner final, having earlier run an impressive 29.35 in the series semi-finals.

This will be Suffragette’s first competitive look at Wentworth Park, but she did trial at the Sydney circuit last week in 30.20, in what was a competitive time based on other times set that night during racing.

The first heat also features Star Torana (box six), who won a heat of the Golden Easter Egg earlier this month in 30.09.

She’s Grand will jump from box six in the second heat having won her last two starts – both at Wentworth Park from box seven.

The Rodney O’Brien-trained greyhound has a modest record of four minor placings in eight previous starts wearing the green rug, but on current form looks a decent chance for the series.

Kilkee May (box three), a recent Group 2 Richmond Oaks finalist from the NSW Central West kennel of Shannon Kirby, looks the biggest danger to She's Grand.

Lagoon Jazzy was pipped by the brilliant Striker Light in the thrilling Golden Easter Egg decider and looks the top pick in heat three, in which she will jump from box five.

Good Odds Angel jumps from box seven in the fourth heat having returned to form with three wins in her last four starts.

The Frank Hurst-trained greyhound finished eighth at Wentworth Park last Saturday but is normally a reliable performer, having won a tick more than $100,000 in prize money.

Best value chance for the series could be Tap Out Scarlet, who jumps from box two in the fourth heat.

The Rod Metselaar-trained greyhound has hit good form recently, scoring two wins in her last three starts.

The four heat winners and runners-up progress to next Saturday’s Group 3 final.
