Star newcomers Spare Cash and Joyce Rumble look among the standout chances for Thursday night’s Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity (520m) Heats.
Exciting greyhounds Neeky’s Way and Marilena Franco are also among the hopefuls in the four Heats of the $40,000-to-the-winner series at Albion Park.
Neeky’s Way (box seven) is one of the most experienced greyhounds involved in the series, which is open to female greyhounds whelped on or after October 1, 2014 and looks the best bet in the first Heat (race two).
The John Dart-trained greyhound clocked a smart 29.84 win from box five at Albion Park last month and won her last start at the track in 30.12 at the end of March.
The second Heat (race three) looks a cracker, featuring three strong prospects for the series – Two Jay (box two), Go Lassie Go (box seven) and Amber Marie (box eight).
All three are handy greyhounds, with Two Jay – who has had some strong runs at Northern Rivers tracks – perhaps benefiting best from this draw.
Heat three (race four) looks like a battle between impressive duo Marilena Franco (box one) and Spare Cash (box two).
Spare Cash in particular is in brilliant form and has won seven of her last eight starts, including a strong 29.88 effort at Albion Park on March 16 and a 30.36 victory last start.
Joyce Rumble (box seven) is a great prospect and looms as the one to watch in Heat four (race five).
The Steve Keep-trained greyhound has won her last six starts, including an impressive 29.94 triumph at Albion Park on March 13.
Best value chance for the series could be the Robert Cooke-trained Smooth Claudia, who jumps from box five in the third Heat.
Smooth Claudia has won three of seven starts so far and ran a smart 29.94 at Albion Park two starts back.
The four Heat winners and runners-up progress to next Thursday’s final.
In other action at Thursday’s meeting at Albion Park, evergreen greyhound Cyndie’s Magic (box one) looks a strong chance to register her 39th win with victory in race eight (520m).
The Bill Elson-trained greyhound has won more than $330,000 in her brilliant career and is still racing well, having won her last two starts.
Exciting newcomer Fast Times (box four) returns to Albion Park in race 10 (520m) and looks a good chance to make it five wins from his first seven starts.
The Tony Brett-trained greyhound finished eighth at Sandown Park last start but set a 420m track record at Lismore on his first start and has already broken the 30-second barrier at Albion Park.
