Zipping Vixen Primed To Pounce At Richmond

By Stuart Turner

ZIPPING Vixen produced one of the best runs of her career last week and looks capable of continuing her winning form in tonight’s feature race at Richmond

The daughter of Collision and Lady Arko jumps from box five in the 4/5th grade Castlewood Kitchens 2-4 Wins Final (race six, 535m) after scoring a smart 30.79 win in last week’s heats.

ZIPPING Vixen can be erratic at box rise but she was on top form last week, with the win taking her overall record five wins and 10 minor placings from 31 starts.

She has won three of her eight previous starts at Richmond, including a triumph over the 618m here last year and seems a decent chance in this race.

“Her box manners have always let her down but she certainly has ability,” trainer Owen Langley said.

“Her record at Richmond is decent when you throw in that win over the 618m and she does seem to go better there.

“Her first sectional is never her best but if she can stick with them, she can then show what she can do.

“If she jumps like normal then she’ll need a bit of luck, but is he jumps like last week she can win this.”

Last week was ZIPPING Vixen’s first win in 15 starts but she had been racing mostly in elite company at Wentworth Park.

She is a Wentworth Park winner over the 520m and although he record from box five is a modest two placings from four previous starts, she looks to be up to this class.

Star Seven (box six) is unbeaten wearing the green rug and has only finished off the podium once in her last five starts, so looks the biggest danger.

Elantris (box eight) is inconsistent but a fine talent at her best and can improve on her fourth place behind ZIPPING Vixen last week.

In other Richmond Friday action, class act Good Odds Angel looks one of the night’s best bets in a quality Free-For-All over the 400m (race four).

The Frank Hurst-trained greyhound (box eight) took her prize money earnings past the $102,000 mark with another win from the same box last week.

She has won three of her last four races and with five triumphs from eight starts wearing the pink rug looks well capable of saluting in this.

Chocolate Fever (box seven) is another greyhound in hot form and loos the top pick in race seven over the 400m.

A brother of Victorian Group-winning star Buck Forty, Chocolate Fever has endured an injury-hampered career but has now won four of his last five  races and saluted over this trip two starts back.

Splitting Image (box three) is making her Richmond debut in a quality race nine over the 400m but is a handy newcomer and looks capable of scoring the win.

The well-bred daughter of multiple Group-winning champion Paw Licking and Resemblance has won two of her four starts so far and clocked a decent 20.02 while placing at Goulburn last week.
