Crudeli's Sassy-Looking Chance For Cannington

By Stuart Turner

Sassy Ginger is in career-best form and can continue trainer Enzo Crudeli’s current run of success with victory in the feature race at Saturday’s Cannington meeting.

The son of Kinloch Brae and Sassy Guest jumps from box six in the  $15,000-to-the-winner high-quality Sandi’s Me Mum Memorial Final (race five, 520m) aiming to further improve his career record of 16 wins and six minor placings from 31 starts.

Sassy Ginger clocked a brilliant 29.53 – just 0.05 outside Quick Jagger’s  recent track record – defeating a strong field in last week’s heats and win three wins from her last five starts.

He has the modest record of one win and one minor placing in five previous starts from box six but on current form looks a strong chance for Crudeli, who won the recent Group 1 Perth Cup with Equanimity.

Gun mentor Chris Halse will rug up four chances in the final – West On Maisie (box one), Who’s Got Class (box two), West On Dossy (box four) and Times Square in box eight.

Who’s Got Class has dazzling best of 29.61 at the track and has won of four of his previous starts wearing the checks, so looks the biggest danger.

Times Square clocked a moderate 30.34 in last week’s heats but is a class act and has won eight of her 12 starts wearing the pink rug, so looks the best value chance in the final.

Meanwhile, former Victorian star Aeroplane Tommy is having his first competitive race in WA but can score a win in race eight over the 520m.

The son of Turanza Bale and Ritza Night (box six) has built the respectable record of 11 wins and 13 minor placings in 36 starts in the kennel of renowned mentor Jason Thompson.

Now with Michael Johnston, he has placed in two of his three previous starts wearing the green rug and if in full fitness looks capable of beating these.

In other Cannington Saturday action, former NSW-based greyhound Ochre Keroma (box eight) looks capable of winning race two over the 715m.

The James Jeffries-trained greyhound is having her first look at the 715m but has been racing well in WA over the 600m in recent weeks and looks capable of saluting in this company.

Topology had no luck over the 715m last week but can return to the 600m with a win in a high-quality race six.

The Paul Stuart-trained greyhound has won four of his five starts jumping from box one and is a class act, boasting the record of 16 wins and 17 minor placings from 42 starts.
