Greyhounds As Pets At Royal Easter Show

By Greyhound Racing NSW

Greyhounds As Pets is showcasing its program – and some of its ‘star graduates’ – at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The adoption program has a stand at the show, which opened today and is expected to attract more than 850,000 visitors over the next two weeks.

Visitors to the Greyhounds As Pets stand will be able to learn more about the adoption program, how to potentially foster or adopt a greyhound and meet some of the greyhounds that have successfully passed through the program.

Greyhounds As Pets manager Lori McKern said the Easter Show was a great chance to promote the adoption program and show what great pets greyhounds can make.

“This is the first time in a number of years Greyhounds As Pets has been involved with the Sydney Royal Easter Show,” Miss McKern said. “We’re delighted to be involved with such a prestigious event.

“We’re really looking forward to spreading the word about what fantastic pets greyhounds can make – and help more of them find happy and loving homes as a result.”

Last year saw a record number of 470 greyhounds adopted out by Greyhounds As Pets, which aims to rehome greyhounds who have either retired from racing or who are not suited to racing.

GAP’s appearance at the Easter Show follows a number of successful adoption days that have taken place in and around the Sydney region, including a recent adoption day at Kellyville Pets in March.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show runs until Wednesday, April 19 and is taking place at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.
