Chase The Cash A Rich-Looking Chance

By Stuart Turner

A crack at the Group 3 New Sensation could be on the cards for Chase The Cash if the greyhound can continue her good run of form at Richmond tonight.

Chase The Cash jumps from box five in the 5th grade www.electriciansupplies.com.au Stakes (race eight, 535m) aiming to further improve her record of three wins and three minor placings in seven starts.

The greyhound scored back-to-back wins over the 535m at Richmond last month before winning over the 520m at Wentworth Park on March 15 in a smart 29.95.

For Watts – a sales representative – Chase The Cash was not only his first winner at Wentworth Park, but also the first time he had a runner at the famous track as a trainer.

“I was over the moon (when she won). All the boys were cheering their heads off when she came home,” the Werrington trainer said.

“I’ve had a couple of greyhounds as an owner and helped my friends who have been trainers. I thought it was time to give (training) a go myself.

“She’s like a family pet  and I’m loving the experience at the moment, although trust me – she’s doing most of the work.”

Watts said this would be a preparatory run before a potential run in the heats of the Group 3 New Sensation, which is part of the forthcoming Golden Easter Egg series at Wentworth Park.

“We thought we’d give her a run at Richmond again before possibly having a look at the New Sensation,” he said.

“She’s placed at Richmond on other three occasions and was schooled there. She knows the track and loves racing there.

“The draw tonight is a concern but she has the pace to overcome it  and I think she will be there or thereabouts.

“It’s a tricky race but with the way she’s going at the moment, I’ve got to be confident.”

In other Richmond action tonight,  Hollywood (box four) can live up to his name with victory in the 5th grade Tuiaki @ Stud Stakes (race three, 535m).

The Syd Swain-trained greyhound has scored two consecutive placings, including a good run from the same box over the 520m at Wentworth Park behind Chase The Cash last start, and can salute in this race.

Tilikum (box seven) has been a consistent recent performer for trainer Simon Rhodes and looks the best bet in the Swift Fancy @ Stud Stakes (race six, 535m).
