Swain Eyeing A Magical Win At Lismore

By Stuart Turner

Fay’s Magic returns to her favourite track on Tuesday night when she lines up in the 4/5th grade Station Hotel Final (race seven, 520m) at Ladbrokes Park Lismore.

The Fred Swain-trained greyhound jumps from box one looking to extend her good record which has resulted in her winning three of her last four starts at the Northern Rivers track.

Fay’s Magic qualified for tonight’s race with a dominant four-length victory in her heat, in which she cruised home in 30.37.

She faces tough some opposition in this race led by impressive newcomer Two Jay in box two, but Swain believes his greyhound can go well again.

“I’m expecting her to race well tonight,” Swain said.

“Last week she was coming off the back of some hard runs over a hard campaign at Albion Park so she should be fresher for this race.

“She was racing mostly over the 600 metres at Albion Park. I thought I’d drop her back to the 520 metres and it seems to have done her good.

“I would have preferred her outside as she seems to race better out wide, but on her current form I’m expecting her to be there or thereabouts in this company.

“I’m expecting her to come out of the boxes well and then the rest is up to her.”

Two Jay has won her last three starts, including a 30.19 heat win last week, and looks a strong contender.

Sheza Good Size (box three) is another consistent performer, while Embellish has clocked a dazzling 29.58 over this trip and looks best of the rest.

In other action at Lismore this evening, promising newcomer Mitchie Madam (box two) looks a strong winning chance in race three (420m).

The Lawrence Meteyard-trained greyhound extended her record to 10 wins and seven minor placings from 22 starts with a fine 24.05 triumph over this trip last week and should take full advantage of the inside draw.

Moonstone Kahn (box one) is better than his last two starts at Albion Park suggests and he can score a win in the night’s fifth race (520m).

The Glenda Dart-trained greyhound is a multiple Wentworth Park winner and has won his three previous starts wearing the red rug.
