Decision - Leo Vanderburg

By Greyhound Racing NSW

On 6 October 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Mr Leo Vanderburg under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:

That you, Leo Vanderburg, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Shirloz’ presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race three at Bathurst on 4 April 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.

The prohibited substance was cobalt.

Following Mr Vanderburg’s early guilty plea to the charge and consideration of the mitigating factors, GRNSW Stewards determined to impose a period of disqualification of six months and a fine of $1000.
