Falcon's Fury Is Maitland Bound

By Stuart Turner

A crack at the Maitland Gold Cup may await Falcon’s Fury after the greyhound took out the Group 2 Ladbrokes Bulli Gold Cup on Saturday night.

Starting as $3.80 second favourite, Falcon’s Fury began brilliantly and quickly built a big lead in the Bulli Gold Cup, taking out the 472m feature event by three lengths in a time of 26.12.

It was Falcon’s Fury 14th win from 20 career starts and follows on from his win in the Bathurst Cup earlier this month.

Pamela Braddon, wife of trainer Paul Braddon, said the greyhound will now likely be prepared for the heats of the Group 2 Maitland Gold Cup heats on March 16 before having going on to the Golden Easter Egg heats on April 1.

“We’ll likely give him a run at Maitland (before the Gold Cup series),” she said.

‘He’s never been there before so we’ll see how he handles it. He is starting to jump like he can now so hopefully he won’t go back to bad habits when he wasn’t pinging the lids.

“After Maitland it’s the Golden Easter Egg which we’ll certainly have a look at.”
