Ritza Lenny Ready To Boom At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

NSW superstar Ritza Lenny, recent Group 2 Dapto Puppy Auction winner Topper Teretto and hot newcomer Totolo headline Saturday’s terrific Bulli meeting.

Ritza Lenny (pictured) jumps from box one in a super G2 Bulli Gold Cup Heats Next Week (race five, 472m) as he continues his preparation for the Bulli Gold Cup.

The Mark Gatt-trained newcomer showed he had overcome injury with a sparkling 24.76 victory from box eight over the 450m at Maitland on January 26.

He has saluted on three of his five previous visits to Bulli and with three wins from five starts wearing the red rug, looks ideally drawn to overcome a tough field including kennelmate Ritza Rossi (box two) and the dangerous Kong (box six).

Topper Teretto also looks ideally positioned in box one to score a victory on his NSW in the 4/5th grade 1300 Ladbrokes Stakes (400m, race nine).

The Anthony Azzopardi-trained speedster went unbeaten in the recent three-week series at Dapto, scoring a dazzling 29.49 victory along the way.

He has won two of his three starts in Victoria since that series and with two wins in three previous starts from box three, looks the top chance here.

Another greyhound with strong winning chances tonight looks like handy newcomer Son Of Katie, who jumps from box eight in the ladbrokes.com.au 0-1 Wins (race four, 472m).

A pup from the gun Christine Proctor kennel, Son Of Katie was an impressive 25.50 winner from box one over the 450m at Maitland last week.

“He can handle the wide draw,” Proctor said. “He placed from the eight at Maitland last month and he runs off the track from the inside.

“He’s good decent turn of speed for a big fellow and while I don't know how he’ll fare at two-turn tracks, these big track seem to suit him.

“We bred him ourselves and he’s one that I have decent hopes for. I never like to talk my greyhounds’ chances up but I’m optimistic he can win this.”

Topper Teretto’s Kennelmate Snoop Junior (box six) has been racing well in tough fields in Victoria and looks the top pick in the 4/5th grade 1300 Ladbrokes Stakes (race six, 472m).

The impeccably bred son of Cosmic Rumble and Mrs Beecham is having a  first look at Bulli but is in good form with one win and two minor placings in his last three starts.

He has won once and placed once in two previous starts wearing the green rug and should be too good for these.

Totolo (box five) is an eye-catching newcomer for gun Hunter Valley trainer Jason Mackay and looks capable of saluting in the 5th grade Bulli Racing Saturday Nights Stakes (race eight, 472m).

The son of El Grand Senor and Charlie Cheetah scored a smart 26.44 win over the 472m at Bulli last week from the same draw and a repeat would likely be good enough to win this.

Debutant Take A Seat (box five) looks capable of continuing gun western Sydney trainer DEAN Swain’s hot run of form with victory in the Bulli Jackpot Dog $2000 Stakes (race two, 472m).

The well bred son of Barcia Bale and Midnight Capers has scored two impressive victories in performance trials at Bathurst.
