Glama Boy Looks To Feature At Dapto

By Stuart Turner

Impressive newcomer Glama Boy looks a decent chance to score his second career victory at Dapto on Thursday night.

Glama Boy jumps from box three in race five (520m) in what will only be his fourth race start.

The Rhonda Davis-trained greyhound scored a smart 23.45 victory over the 400m at Gosford on January 10 and placed at the Central Coast track a week later in an almost identical time.

He then finished second at his first look at Dapto last week by eye-catching greyhound Big Butters, but Tony Davis, husband of Rhonda, believes his greyhound can go one better tonight.

“I thought he would win last week but Big Butters ran a very impressive best (time) of the night,” he said.

“Her run home was absolutely enormous. Last week he only jumped fourth from the same box but he found the rail and was soon up there with the leaders. If he can repeat that tonight, he’s in with a chance.

“He’s still young but trials well and...I think he’ll improve a couple of tenths and he’s got some wins in him.

“He’s no champion but he’s improving all the time and you can’t ask for more than that.”

The big danger to Glama Boy looks like Goldstein (box one), who is resuming after almost three months out.

Mount Thomas (box four) is a rare winner but showed improvement with a placing at Dapto last start and has run a strong 30.11 at Dapto previously.

In other racing at Dapto this evening, Big Stink (box two) is another resuming from a layoff, but looks the top chance in race six (520m).

Big Stink is coming off a decent win over the 520m last start at Wentworth Park and trainer Craig Chappelow has enjoyed a stack of winners in recent months.

Lowanna’s Son (box three) is having his first start at Dapto but looks a strong chance in race seven (520m).

The Sharron Webster-trained greyhound has been racing well recently, winning at Richmond last start and making the final of the Group 1 Paws Of Thunder, and should be too classy for his opponents this evening.

Gun western Sydney trainer Dean Swain has already scored a win at Gosford this week with Miss Foxy Lee and he should be celebrating another triumph with Nadal">Nadal in race nine (600m) at Dapto.

Nadal (box four) has perhaps not fulfilled his early promise but is a consistent performer having placed in nearly three-quarters of his races and should be suited by a step up in distance.
