Keep Looks The One To Watch At Grafton

By Stuart Turner

He’s The One looks the top pick in tonight’s high-quality 4/5th grade Ladbrokes Red Dog Final (race seven, 480m) at Grafton.

The impressive newcomer (box eight) has been in dazzling form since resuming in December from a four-month break, scoring his second win in three starts with a smart 27.45 victory from box seven in last week’s heats.

That win extended the well-bred son of Barcia Bale and Sprial Jill’s career record to a solid four wins and three minor placings from seven starts.

He’s The One’s progress was checked by that wrist injury, but trainer Stephen Keep said he was expecting a “big show” from his kennel star tonight.

“I think he’s in this race up to his ears,” Keep said.

“The injury he suffered was a real setback, but he has come back a more mature greyhound which is a great plus.

“Three weeks ago he won by 10 lengths which shows his ability. He’s got a big motor and certainly has talent.

“You can’t be overly confident in a final of this quality but I’m expecting a big show from him.”

This is a first start from box eight for He’s The One but he likes it out wide, having scored three wins and a placing in five starts from box seven.

Embellish (box three) clocked 27.44 in last week’s heats and looks the biggest danger, while Cheeky Maxi (box five) has gone a storming 27.35 at Grafton.

In other Grafton Monday action, Cosmic Crash (box five) can earn his first win on his 12th start in the Mixed grade Brothers CC @ CRCA Relay Stakes (race five, 480m).

The Garry Cluss-trained greyhound resumed after two months out with a decent placing over this trip last week and with six placings to her name has ability.

She has placed in both of her previous starts wearing the yellow rug and with luck can score that elusive first win in this.

Cosmic Wants Too (box seven) looks the top pick in a quality 4/5th grade Coutts Crossing CC @ CRCA Relay Stakes (race six, 407m).

The Lawrence Meteyard-trained greyhound resumed after a month’s absence with a solid placing at Grafton last week, does his best work from a wide draw and has scored six wins and two minor placings from 13 starts so far.

Kennelmate Steve’s Jewel can continue his strong recent form with victory in the 4/5th grade Tucabia Cop @CRCA Relay Stakes (race eight, 480m).

Steve’s Jewel is usually much stronger from an inside draw but has scored three consecutive placings and has the solid record of five wins and six minor placings from 19 starts.
