Decision - Alan Provest

By Greyhound Racing NSW

On 18 January 2017 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Charged trainer Mr Alan Provest under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:

- That you, Alan Provest, a public trainer, while in Charge of the greyhound ‘Londonderry Lass’ at Nowra on 2 November 2015 presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race one in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance (Charge 1).

- That you, Alan Provest, a public trainer, while in Charge of the greyhound ‘Excel Like Moses’ at Richmond on 13 April 2016 presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race five in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance (Charge 2).

The prohibited substances were 5beta-androstane-3alpha, 17 beta-diol and tetrahydrozoline respectively.

During an inquiry on 18 January 2017, Mr Provest entered a plea of guilty to Charge 1 while entering a plea of not guilty to Charge 2.

The Stewards determined a period of disqualification in relation to each Charge was the appropriate penalty and that the periods of disqualification are to be served cumulatively. This results in a total period of disqualification of 38 weeks.
