Warrior Rose Looks A Sweet Chance At Lismore

By Stuart Turner

Warrior Rose provided trainer Shane Robinson with a welcome Christmas boost and the smart newcomer can start 2017 in similar winning fashion at Ladbrokes Park Lismore tonight.

The promising son of Magic Sprite and Made In Roses jumps from box eight in a quality 5th grade Ladbrokes Bonus Bets Stakes (race seven, 420m) aiming for a sixth win in his first 10 starts.

Warrior Rose’s record includes a triumph in the Christmas Gift 1-4 Wins (411m) at Casino on December 16 – one of the biggest races of the year for young greyhounds at the Northern Rivers track.

Since then he’s Warrior Rose has scored two further wins over the 411m at Casino and 420m at Lismore and Robinson thinks he can salute again tonight.

“I couldn’t be happier with how he’s going,” the North Casino trainer said. “He’s done everything right.

“He hasn’t run since December 27 as we’ve freshened him up and worked with him to see if he might run the 500 metres later in his career.

“This is probably his biggest test so far but if he can race like has done I think he’s capable of winning this, even from the outside draw.

“I’ll certainly be having something on him.”

Warrior Rose clocked a smart 24.21 on debut at Casino on his only previous start from box eight and has the time edge on most of the rest of the field over this trip.

He is from a smart-looking litter also including Bed Of Roses and Poppy's Rose, who have both made decent starts to their racing careers.

Flying Tige (box four) has run 23.95 over this distance and looks the strongest challenger, while Super Luigi (box three) has won two of his last three starts and is also a danger.

In other Lismore Tuesday action, Battistuzzi Miss (box eight) can return to winning ways with victory in the 4/5th grade Ladbrokes Mobile Apps Stakes (race six, 420m).

The Frank Hancock-trained greyhound has been runner-up on her last two starts but has built the strong record of 12 wins and eight minor placings from 28 starts and with three victories from six starts wearing the pink rug can win from the wide draw.

Aristotle (box seven) can continue his devastating recent form with yet another triumph in the Ladbrokes Since 1886 Masters Stakes (race nine, 420m).

The Sonia Kempshall-trained greyhound has won his last six starts and although he does his best work from inside draws, looks the best in this.

Chew My Shoe (box four) is racing well with three consecutive placings and looks the top pick in the 5th grade Ladbrokes.com.au Stakes (race five, 520m).
