Ikon Parker Ready To Triumph At Dapto

By Stuart Turner

Stuart Hazlett rates  Dapto%20meeting.">Ikon Parker and Woolaway as the best of his chances at tonight's Dapto meeting.

The Southern Tablelands trainer has a five-strong contingent in action at the Illawarra track, including handy newcomer Ikon Parker (box seven) in the 5th grade Jackpot Dog Stakes (race nine, 520m).

The son of Magic Sprite and Ocean Foam has scored three wins at Canberra and placed Well in a competitive 5th grade at Dapto last week over the 520m.

“This is only Ikon Parker’s third 500 metres in his life," Hazlett said.  "He faded slightly last week but he’s getting stronger.

"I think he's Well drawn here and I certainly like his potential, if eh can develop a bit more strength.

“He can win.”

Hazlett also sees Woolaway, who has drawn box four in a tough 5th grade United Technology Services Stakes (race five, 600m), as a decent value chance.

The daughter of Collision and Saint Tifi was an unlucky seventh at Dapto last week after being severely hampered but has placed in decent company at Wentworth Park and Richmond.

“She could surprise you,” Hazlett said. “She was unlucky last week while vying for the lead.

“This is her first look at the 600 metres but I think she will jump and lead.

"Mark Gatt's greyhound Uni Student looks a big threat - you know his greyhounds will always be Well-prepared - but I think she's a chance."

Hazlet also likes the chances of his greyhound Dale's Jet, who jumps from box two in the 5th grade Dapto Markets Stakes (race 11, 520m).

The son of Lochinvar Marlow and Champness Gal scored his maiden victory at the fifth attempt with a solid 30.65 effort at Dapto on December 29.

"Ordinarily I wouldn't tip a greyhound who is moving from Maiden to 5th grade," Hazlett said. "They rarely win.

"Having said that, he's Well-boxed and looks to have landed in a winning race.

"Again, if he jumps then I think he's capable of winning this."

In other Dapto action, in-form Struggle Street (box three) can secure a hat-trick of victories in the 4/5th grade Ray White Real Estate Stakes (race seven, 600m).

Golden Musket (box one) looks the night’s best bet in the 5th grade Free Entry To Dapto Dogs Stakes (race 10, 520m).

The talented CHRIS Nutt-trained newcomer clocked an impressive 29.88 winning over the 520m at Dapto">Dapto two starts back and should go close from the rails draw.
