Decision - Melinda Finn

By Greyhound Racing NSW

On 29 July 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Ms Melinda Finn under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as a result of four positive samples taken between 20 March 2015 and 4 May 2015.

The prohibited substance in each instance was Recombinant Human Erythropoeitin (EPO).

During an inquiry on 20 December 2016, Ms Finn entered a plea of guilty to the charges.

The Stewards determined a period of disqualification in relation to each charge was the appropriate penalty and that the periods of disqualification are to be served cumulatively.

This results in a total period of disqualification of 12 years.

The Stewards also considered that one year of the disqualification was considered to be already served based on Ms Finn being suspended since 29 May 2015.

Ms Finn has been notified of her rights of appeal.
