Ando's Mac Ready For Wentworth Park Return

By Jeff Collerson

Melbourne Cup winner Ando">Ando's Mac">Mac revisits Wentworth Park, scene of his Group 1 Vic Peters Classic win, in Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Odds Boost Free-For-All (race six, 520m).

Ando's Mac (pictured) has box two and while he has not started since his Cup victory at SAndown on November 18 trainer Jason Mackay has him ready to win first-up.

"I eased him after the Cup because he was a bit travel weary,'' Mackay said.

"He has been freshened up and now he needs a race to tighten him up for next Tuesday night's heats of the Woy Woy Poultry Gold Cup at Gosford.

"Ando's Mac was pre-trained at Gosford so he knows the track well and the Cup looks a nice race for him.

"He has a lovely draw on Wednesday night and I expect him to lead all the way.''

Mainline Osti will be on trial for a start in the Group 1 National Futurity heats on January 28 when she contests Wednesday night's 520m gapnsw.com.au Stakes at Wentworth Park (race eight).

The Ash Dwyer-trained greyhound exited box six and took the lead with a lap to go before roaring away for a personal best 30.07 win in a fourth and fifth grade event at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.

"She is now grade three at Saturday night Wentworth Park fixtures so I nominated her for Wednesday in order to get Mainline Osti into a fourth grade race,'' trainer Ash Dwyer said.

"She pulled up beautifully after last Saturday's win and is ideally drawn in box eight on Wednesday.

"After this race I will keep her away from Wenty for a while and will probably take her to Melbourne for a race or two before bringing her back to Sydney for the Futurity heats.''

Black Bear Lee's brother File The Writ looks set to open his Wentworth Park account in Wednesday night's Bulli To Wenty Final (race three, 520m).

File The Writ had box one in his fastest 26.48 heat win over 472m at Bulli but trainer Ruth Matic is happy with the greyhound's box eight draw on Wednesday.

"He is not a fast beginner but he musters pace quickly,'' Matic said.

"File The Writ can certainly run but needs to get his own way a bit and from box eight probably has a better chance of that happening.''

While Ando's Mac is Wednesday's stand-out bet the best value looms as the well drawn Tod Tanga, who has box seven in the 520m AAA Radiator Specialists Stakes.

Tod Tanga was never in the hunt from a poor box five draw in a far stronger fifth grade on Saturday night but had come from last to win at Wentworth Park three nights earlier.

The Maureen Sharman-trained greyhound meets similar class on Wednesday and as he likes to circle the field he is neatly positioned out wide.
