On 28 November 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Mr Kevin Barton under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:
That you, Kevin Barton, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Magpie Tess’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race three at Potts Park on 3 September 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.
The prohibited substance was arsenic.
Following Mr Barton’s early guilty plea to the charge and consideration of further mitigating factors supplied, GRNSW Stewards have determined to impose a period of suspension of 10 weeks.
