Mainline Osti Set For Happy Return At Nowra

By Stuart Turner

Ashley Dwyer is confident multiple city winner Mainline Osti can enjoy a winning return to NSW in the feature race at Nowra this afternoon.

Mainline Osti jumps from box four in the Ladbrokes Puppy Bonus Puppy Classic Consolation (race six, 520m) in what will be her first NSW start since a win at Wentworth Park in mid-November.

Mainline Osti scored a solid 30.49 victory at Wentworth Park on that occasion before two unsuccessful runs in strong company at Sandown over the 515m.

Dwyer, who trains Mainline Osti, believes the drop in class means his greyhound can salute today.

“I would be disappointed if she gets beaten,” he said.

“The only concern is the draw. With box four at Nowra, you can get jammed up by other greyhounds - you either win it or lose it depending on how you jump.

“She wasn’t quite up to the class of the greyhounds at Sandown Park but I think it will be a bit different facing this class today.

“I think she’s got a few lengths on these ability-wise at her best and she can certainly win this providing she jumps well.”

Mainline Osti was in sound form prior to her trip to Victoria, scoring two wins and four minor placings in seven starts.

This is her first competitive look at the 365m at Nowra but she looks the clear top pick of this field, with Lil Miss Genia (box eight) looking the closest challenger.

In other action at Nowra today, Look Of Marlow (box four) won from the same draw over the 530m at Canberra on November 27 and can win the 5th grade Premium Tyre Service Stakes (race five, 520m).

Local star Gin Blossum (box three) has had plenty of notable moments on her local track and can salute again in the open grade Shoalhaven Shuttle Stakes (race seven, 365m).

The Colin Williams-trained greyhound has placed on her last three starts – all at Nowra – and all 12 of her career wins have been at the Shoalhaven track.

Ray The Weapon (box seven) is better than his recent form suggests and can triumph in the 4/5th grade A1 K9 Boarding Kennel Stakes (race eight, 520m) .

The David Ruse-trained greyhound has had two unsuccessful runs at Wentworth Park and Dapto but placed over the 400m in a decent 4th grade at Richmond last month.
