Fun Boss Ready To Rule Anniversary Cup

By Stuart Turner

Fun Boss can push his career earnings over the $230,000 mark with victory in the feature race at Cannington on Saturday night – the Greyhounds WA Anniversary Cup (race 5, 520m).

The Cheryl Isaac-trained greyhound jumps from box three in the high-quality $13,500-to-the-winner decider looking to add another chapter to his brilliant career.

Fun Boss qualified for the cup with a super 29.99 win from box two in last week’s heats. He looks favourably drawn in box three with average starters Cosmic Malteze (box one) and Who’s Got Snoop (box two) inside of him.

Penny Monelli (box eight) looks the biggest danger, having won four of her last five races as well as both her previous starts wearing the pink rug.

Kennelmate Monaro Monelli (box six) was the fastest qualifier in 29.93 – in arguably the hardest qualifier – and with two wins and three minor placings with the green rug also appears a winning hope.

In other Cannington action on Saturday night, Olivia Benson (box three) can win a high-calibre 5th grade NPB Security Stakes (race three, 715m).

The Darren Rowe-trained greyhound is stepping up to the 715m at Cannington for the first time but has placed over the 720m at Wentworth Park and is in great form, with two consecutive victories over the 600m since returning to her native Western Australia.

Classy performer Times Square (box eight) looks well drawn to win a quality free-for-all event (race four, 520m).

A star of the gun CHRIS Halse kennel, Times Square has won five of her seven previous starts wearing the pink rug and clocked an impressive 29.93 triumph from this box at Cannington last month.

Shell Shocked (box three) is racing well and can score a win in the 5th grade Box 1 CHRIStmas Gift (race six, 520m).

The Enzo Crudeli-trained greyhound has scored three consecutive placings and has previously run an impressive 30.06 from this box.

West On Gaz has mixed form recently but looks capable of saluting in the 5th grade Get the TABtouch Stakes (race seven, 520m).

The CHRIS Halse-trained greyhound has  a decent record of six wins and six minor placings from 18 starts and has a best of 29.99 at Cannnington.

Lachlan Monelli (box eight) has built the formidable record of seven wins and five minor placings from 13 starts and can complete the quaddie in the 5th grade Community newspaper Group (race eight,  520m).

Another of the stars of the leading David Hobby kennel, Lachlan Monelli clocked 30.05 on his last start from this box in September and looks the class act of this field.
