Casino, The Gardens and Gunnedah Change Race Times

By GRNSW

Due to extreme temperatures forecast across NSW on Friday the race times for meetings at Casino and The Gardens have changed.

The meeting at Casino will now start earlier at 11.05am with kennels closing at 10.20am. The meeting at The Gardens on Friday, meanwhile, will now be held in a night timeslot with the first race to start at 6.56pm, with kennels closing at 6.11pm.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, temperatures at Casino are forecast to reach a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius at around 3pm on Friday. Temperatures at Wallsend, where The Gardens is located, are due to reach a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius.

Under Greyhound Racing NSW's Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy, stewards may abandon a race meeting where the temperature rises above 38 degrees Celsius.

Participants are reminded that a greyhound can be withdrawn from an event without penalty where the Bureau of Meteorology official forecast temperature is 32 degrees Celsius or higher.

Extreme temperatures have also resulted in the Gunnedah meeting on Saturday moving to a night timeslot. Gunnedah's first race on Saturday will now start at 7.15pm.
