Pitstock Eyeing A Fabulous Win At Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Connections of Fabulous Five are confident the greyhound can make his Richmond debut a winning one when he competes in the 5th grade www.racingtoarespectedfuture.com Stakes (race five, 535m) this evening.

The Susan Pitstock-trained greyhound jumps from box one in the looking to continue his solid recent form, which includes three placings at his past three starts.

Fabulous Five is making his first appearance at Richmond but Pitstock is confident he can score a win tonight.

“It’s a tough race but I’m pretty confident he can win,” Pitstock said.

“He’s not a reliable beginner which is a concern but box one will hopefully help his chances.

“I think the big open track at Richmond will suit him as it will give him the chance to come from behind if needs be.

“The distance is no problem – in fact I think the little extra here will suit him better – and he’s looking good.”

Fabulous Five’s recent solid form includes placings at Gosford and Maitland but the son of Spring Gun is still looking for his elusive third victory after winning his first two career starts in this year’s Group 3 Magic Maiden series at Wentworth Park.

“We’ve had a few problems getting him to his best,” Pitstock said.

“It’s a shame as he’s a pretty consistent greyhound. He’s got ability and I think he’s got a few more wins in him.”

In other Richmond action tonight, gun western Sydney mentor Dean Swain can celebrate another victory with Starsza Smiling in the 5th grade #Richmond Greys Stakes (race six, 618m).

Starsza Smiling (box two) is a promising newcomer who has already won over the 600m at Dapto and scored a sound placing over this trip last week at Richmond.

The Liz Bont-trained greyhound Arizona Xena (box six) was an impressive last start winner at Richmond and looks the top pick in the 5th grade Kurrambee Kapers Stakes (race seven, 535m).

Agent Kade (box two) has been in good recent form and looks the standout chance to complete the quaddie in the 5th grade Kurrambee Kaos Stakes (race five, 535m).

The well-bred son of champion Oaks Road and Nawy Naawy has won two of his last five starts and scored a sound placing over the 520m at Dapto on his last start.

Holme’s (box three) has been a good recent performer for trainer Ron Alccock and can win the night’s final race - the Free-For-All Tuiaki @Stud Stakes (race 11, 400m).

The consistent greyhound has won five of his last seven starts and continued his good form with another victory over this trip at Richmond last week.
