Techno Can Hit The Right Note At Wentworth Park

By Stuart Turner

Dean Swain is set to continue his successful year while champion Bessy Boo can score another  victory at tonight’s Wentworth Park meeting.

Swain, who is leading the 2016 Wentworth Park trainers’ premiership, has unraced puppy Techno (box four) looking a standout chance in the wentworthpark.com.au Maiden Stakes (race three, 520m) at headquarters.

Swain’s double triumph at the Sydney circuit on Saturday night with Moonstone Kahn and Twist Of Thunder took his tally to 42 wins for the year.

Techno has scored two smart performance trial victories at Maitland and Gosford and can score yet another victory for his western Sydney mentor.

"Ever since I was a little kid, watching my father Sid train his greyhounds, it has been my ambition to not only become a trainer but to take out a Wentworth Park premiership,'' Swain said.

"Techno is a promising youngster and he led all the way to win a 515m performance trial at Gosford last Tuesday in 29.96, which was fastest time of the night.

"Unfortunately Techno has not been trialled at Wentworth Park and I nearly always give my greyhounds a look at a track prior to a race.

"It should not worry Techno too much and while box four is not great he does have an empty box on his outside.

“I expect him to run straight from the boxes to the first turn.''

Dig Deep Chez, who has box one, looms as Techno's toughest opponent tonight.

Dig Deep Chez has been placed in six of 12 starts but trainer Les Deguara considers his greyhound is much better than her record would indicate.

"I want to see her draw an inside box,'' Deguara said after Dig Deep Chez exited box eight when Runner-up to Rockin' Runner at Wentworth Park on October 24.

Meanwhile, Bessy Boo (pictured) jumps from box three in the Masters grade Ladbrokes.com.au Stakes (race eight, 520m) aiming to extend his record-breaking run of Wentworth Park wins to 34.

Bessy Boo placed at Wentworth Park last week, won a similar Masters race four starts back and looks ideally positioned to score yet another victory at the Sydney circuit.

His toughest opponent looks like the Robert Smith-trained Lochinvar Holly (box four), who won a quality Free-For-All at Wentworth Park two starts back and has a decent record from box four.

Smith also looks to have decent winning chances with Lochinvar Dash (box six) in the 3/4th grade gapnsw.com.au Stakes (race five, 520m) and Lochinvar Klein (box seven) in the 4/5th grade Xmas Night December 17 Stakes (race six, 520m).

Lochinvar Dash was a smart winner over the 400m at Gosford last start and has a terrific record from this draw, having won five times and placed twice in seven starts wearing the green rug.

Kennelmate Lochinvar Klein returned to form with a last start placing at Gosford and should have too much speed for these.

Quicklee Cassie (box four) scored a smart victory over the 515m at Gosford last week and can continue that winning form with victory in the 5th grade Sky Racing Stakes (race seven, 520m).
