Reflected Ready To Hit The Heights At Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Steven Scott has been clocking up the air miles with Reflected and his hard work could pay off in tonight’s Globe Memorial Maiden Series Final at Richmond (535m, race six).

Reflected will jump from box eight in the $15,000-to-the-winner decider after qualifying in last week’s heats with  a smart 31.17 win from box seven.

Scott is based in at Gilberton in Far North Queensland and has flown back and forth for the heats and final, with Reflected based at Glen and Robyn Goodwin’s Kanahooka kennels for the series.

“We have a few greyhounds for Reflected’s owner,” Scott said.  “We both agree that if you have a good opinion of your greyhound then you go where the money is.

“We are trying to get even better greyhounds so we want to have a bit of success in these good races. I think it will also do Reflected good as a pup to travel a bit and see different tracks.

“He’s loved it down here – I think I’ll have to prize his paws off the kennel door.

“I must admit, I won’t be sorry to stop the travelling – but it will be a lot nicer to go home with the win.”

The well-bred son of Fabregas and Velocity Regina was the fastest qualifier in last week’s heats, bolting home by a commanding four-and-a-quarter lengths.

He had earlier clocked 30.82 in a performance trial at Richmond and finished second over the 520m on debut at Ipswich last month with a decent run.

“You always want the inside boxes, but he can win from the eight,” Scott said. “He’s a smart dog and will do nothing silly.

“He can be a little tardy early (but) his run home time was good last week

“It’s a maiden race so you know there’ll be greyhounds going left and right – it’s unpredictable. I can’t be too confident, but if he’s up there with them in the back straight, it could be happy days.”

Miss Utah (box one) has run 31.12 at Richmond, while Egyptian Spot (box seven) ran 31.25 last week and looks a handy newcomer for Dawn Garrett.

Wild Twist (box three), an impeccably bred daughter of Collision and champion Double Twist, clocked 31.39 last week and looks capable of improving.

In other Richmond Friday action, War Cry looks the night’s best bet in the 4/5th grade Racing To A Respected Future (618m, race five).

The Ross McDougal-trained greyhound has won four of his last seven starts – all at Richmond – and was a smart 30.90 winner over the 535m last week.

Zambora Idol (box five) is racing well and can score a victory in the #Richmond Greys Stakes (618m, race seven).

The Tony Spiteri-trained greyhound has placed over the 600m at Dapto on his last two starts and does his best work from the middle boxes, so looks well positioned here.

Poker Date (box three) can complete the quaddie with victory in the 4/5th grade Peter Darroch Stakes (618m, race eight)

A consistent performer from the Joe Comito-trained kennel, Poker Date defeated a class field at Wentworth Park two starts back over the 520m in a smart 30.03.
