Eminent Reality A Young Stars Classic Chance

By Stuart Turner
Eminent Reality Cannington

after scoring a sparkling 29.75 win

That made it four wins from six starts so far for the impeccably bred son of Barcia Bale and recent WA star Zelemar Fever.

Robartson’s husband DAVE believes his hot newcomer is a decent chance for the final.

“I was a little surprised by his time last week, although he did win his maiden in 30.10,” Robartson said.

“He’s always had ability but he’s always been a little slow out of the boxes. I thought his times would come down as he got stronger and his run home last week was superb.

“I was lucky to have him out of the litter and I’ve always had high hopes for him.  He’s showing plenty of promise and I think he can win.”

This is a terrific final, with Eminent Reality’s high-class opposition led by led by Times Square (box two).

A hot newcomer from the gun Chris Halse kennel, Times Square was a terrific 29.93 winner in last week’s heats, also ran 29.87 the previous week at Cannington and has won two of her four starts from box two.

Astrozone (box eight), from the gun Paul Stuart kennel, is unbeaten in four starts and also looks a big danger.

“This has to be one of the best fields in a long time for this race,” David Robartson said. “There’s not a lot between them.

“This is the first time he’s drawn inside box five so that could help. Both Times Square and Jilly Keeping in box one  are fast beginners, though,  so I am hoping they give him room.

“I’m never overly confident but he’s pulled up well from last week and looking good.”

In other Cannington Saturday action, Jerry Monelli (box one) looks the night’s best bet in the Prime Trophies Stakes (race 8, 520m).

The latest hot newcomer for gun trainer David Hobby, Jerry Monelli saluted in his only previous start from this box last month in 30.12 and a repeat would likely win this.

Kennelmate Teddy Monelli (box four) was unsuccessful in the All Stars heats but can atone with victory in the Free Entry TAB Touch Park (race one, 520m).

The impressive youngster has the imposing record of 10 wins and four minor placings from 15 starts so far and has placed in his three previous starts wearing the blue rug.

Recent Group 3 SA Oaks winner Pepper Fire (box eight) also narrowly missed out in last week’s All Star heats but can bounce back with victory in a high-quality Community Newspaper Group (race three, 520m).

The impressive daughter of Spiral Nikita and West On Bluebird scored a sizzling 29.75 win over the 520m from this same draw two starts back and has scored one win and three minor placings in her last four starts.

Both track record holder Single Sticka (box two) and Shell Shocked (box two) have been improving since returning from breaks and can score wins in races seven and nine respectively.
