Decision - Gary Shipley

On 21 October 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Mr Gary Shipley under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:

That you, Gary Shipley, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Sekonda Belle’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race five at Nowra on 14 March 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.

That you, Gary Shipley, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Sekonda Belle’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race six at Nowra on 20 June 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.

The prohibited substance in both instances was theobromine.

Following Mr Shipley’s early guilty plea to the charges, GRNSW Stewards have determined to impose a period of suspension of 14 weeks for each charge (to be served concurrently).
