On Fire Looking A Hot Chance At Angle Park

By Stuart Turner

Talented newcomers On Fire and Long Gully Gilly look two of the standout chances in today’s heats of Group 3 Brian Johnstone Memorial (515m) at Angle Park.

Exciting duo Buzz Box and Roc The Belvue also look ones to watch in the four heats of the $25,000-to-the-winner series, which is open to SA bred greyhounds whelped between July 1 and December 1, 2014.

Buzz Box (box three) is a talented youngster from the gun Cameron Butcher kennel and looks the top pick in the first heat of the three-week series.

The well-bred son of Bekim Bale and Alana Blues has won four of his 10 starts so far and clocked a smart 30.06 victory over this trip at Angle Park last month.

Litter sister and  kennelmate Roc The Belvue (box seven) has been similarly impressive so far and looks the one to back in the second heat.

Roc The Belvue has scored three wins and three minor placings from eight starts so far and was a smart 30.08 last start winner over this distance at the Adelaide track.

On Fire (box one) is another highly promising pup for Cameron Butcher and looks ideally positioned in the third heat.

The exciting newcomer has won seven of his 11 starts so far and clocked a sizzling 29.67 from box four while winning over the 515m at Angle Park on his last start.

Long Gully Gilly (box six) is another boom pup and looks the clear standout in heat four.

The Ken Gill-trained newcomer has scored four wins from seven starts so far and was a terrific 29.68 victor from box five at Angle Park on November 1.

Best roughie chance for the series looks like the fast-improving Martin Doyle-trained Bekalia’s Freak, who has box six in heat three.

Bekalia’s Freak has won her last three starts – all at Angle Park – and was a commanding 29.96 winner from this box on November 9.

Semi-finals take place next Thursday, with the decider on Thursday, December 1.
