Good Odds Angel A Heavenly Wentworth Park Chance

By Jeff Collerson

Greyhound racing's 'Miss Consistency', Good Odds Angel, will lift her earnings over the $100,000 mark if she can score her 10th Wentworth Park win on Saturday night.

The Frank Hurst-trained greyhound has box five in the 520m Free For All class Sky Racing Stakes (race six) but her trainer is not worried about the draw.

"I prefer her boxed somewhere in the middle because she uses a bit of the track and when she draws box one she often gets beaten,'' Hurst said.

"She pulled up well after her all the way win at Wentworth Park last Saturday night and I'm hoping to run a place with my other starter Good Odds Regina, who has box two.

"She is well positioned near the rails but is nowhere near as quick as Good Odds Angel, but Good Odds Regina has early pace and is a good railer.''

There is not a more honest greyhound in work than Good Odds Angel whose past eight Wentworth Park starts have yielded two wins, three seconds and three thirds.

Topper Road is resuming from a spell in the 520m @wpgrey on twitter Stakes but is trialling well enough to win at her first start for five weeks.

"He had a small cut on a toe so had to have a break but he is going well again,'' trainer Kerry Drynan said. "I haven't put Topper Road around the circle but his times in trials up the straight have been very good.''

As a winner of seven races at Wentworth Park, Topper Road, who turns four next month, is well placed in Saturday's fourth and fifth grade event.

While he overcame box eight to win in a handy 30.06 at Wentworth Park on September 28, Topper Road is a keen railer who is ideally drawn in box one on Saturday.

Fantastic Bear is set to retain his unbeaten Wentworth Park long distance record in Saturday night's 720m ladbrokes.com.au Stakes.

The Jason Fletcher-trained greyhound has not raced for a month but relishes the Wentworth Park 720m trip where he has won each of three races, with a personal best time of 42.15.

Interestingly Fantastic Bear posted those quick figures from box five, the draw he has on Saturday night.

Gunnadoo Cove, who has box one, will have plenty of support too as she has won each of her two Wentworth Park 720m appearances, but her best time of 42.65 is a long way short of Fantastic Bear's time standard.

Zipping Vixen is a good beginner who lacks early pace so she is perfectly positioned in box one in Saturday's 520m Follow Us On Facebook Stakes.

Although Zipping Vixen has won only one of her 13 Wentworth Park outings it is worth noting that when she won on September 17 she wore the red rug and posted a slick 30.02.

None of her rivals on Saturday night has been able to come anywhere near those figures at Wentworth Park.

A disappointing trial at Wentworth Park on Tuesday night has trainer Jill Harper uncertain about her in-form dog George Sannette's prospects in Saturday's gapnsw.com.au Stakes (520m).

George Sannette was a certainty beaten when fourth from box eight at his most recent Wentworth Park race on October 8 before winning in the fastest time of the meeting, again from eight, at Maitland on October 20.

"I trialled him at Wenty on Tuesday and his time was disappointing but I'm told the track was very slow so I don't know what to think,'' Harper said. "There is nothing wrong with the dog so I'm hoping his time was due to the slow track surface.''

George Sannette is well drawn in box seven but faces stern opposition from fast starter Mack Tux (box six) and Hernando Kahn, who has drawn five and has won in 29.93 seconds at Wentworth Park.
