Decision - Ralph Smith

By Greyhound Racing NSW

On 29 September 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Mr Ralph Smith under rule 83 (2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:

That you, Ralph Smith, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Mini Dancer’ presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race four at Richmond on 13 July 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.

The prohibited substance was caffeine and its metabolites.

Following Mr Smith’s early guilty plea to the charge and consideration of further mitigating factors supplied, GRNSW Stewards have determined to impose a period of suspension of 14 weeks.
