Let It Develop Fired Up For Topgun

By Stuart Turner

Let It Develop  is the sole NSW representative in the forthcoming Group 1 Topgun (525m) while Whittaker and Miss Foxy Lee will fly the blue flag in the Group 2 Topgun Stayers (725m).

The JODIE Lord-trained Let It Develop has been rewarded for his recent hot spell, which includes victories in the Group 3 Canberra Cup and Group 1 Dapto Megastar, with an invite into the world’s richest invitation-only race.

A Goulburn 440m track record holder, Let It Develop has won a tick more than $200,000 prize money and  has the formidable record of 29 wins and 39 minor placings from exactly 100 starts.

Other invitees to the $150,000-to-the-winner race at The Meadows  include Victorian superstar Zambora Brockie and the Jason Thompson-trained pair Aston Bolero and Aqua Cheetah, a winner of last week’s Group 1 Adelaide Cup.

The Julie Fletcher-trained Whittaker (pictured) has earned an invite into the $75,000-to-the-winner with some impressive recent efforts, including winning the recent Group 3 Chairman’s Cup.

Whittaker has the fine record of 21 wins and 18 minor placings from 60 starts and has been arguably NSW’s most consistent stayer in 2016.

Miss Foxy Lee has also been a fine performer for Dean Swain, scoring 16 wins and five minor placings from 34 starts.

Her record includes a runner-up spot in last Saturday night’s Group 3 Sydney Cup behind winner Apatite and a victory at The Meadows on September 24.

Other invitees for the Stayers Topgun include brilliant Victorian Burn One Down and this year’s Group 1 National Championship winner Ring The Bell.

The races take place on Saturday, October 22, with the box draws for both taking place this Saturday.
