Chad Achurch Issued With Interim Suspension

By Greyhound Racing NSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has issued an interim suspension to owner-trainer Chad Achurch until the completion of a Stewards inquiry that has been established to investigate allegations that Mr Achurch failed to comply with the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules, including Rule 86B in relation to luring and baiting.

The Stewards inquiry follows a targeted welfare and integrity inspection at Mr Achurch’s licensed address this week by GRNSW. GRNSW accompanied the NSW Police who executed a search warrant at the licensed address. RSPCA was also in attendance.

Mr Achurch had until 3pm today to make submissions to the Stewards about why his licence should not be suspended until the completion of the inquiry. Mr Achurch did not make any submissions.

The Stewards have decided to suspend Mr Achurch’s licence until the completion of the inquiry.

A copy of the decision can be found here.

Mr Achurch has been notified of his rights of appeal.

GRNSW urges anyone with welfare concerns relating to the NSW greyhound industry to contact the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Hotline on 1800 680 174 or intelligence@grnsw.com.au
